Toploader won't go into gear
Was doing some clean up on my Unique FIA. I changed out the clutch line and also replaced a U-joint on the left back axle. In order to do so I was shifting the car into first to hold the rear. When I was finally finished I lowered the car and attempted to take it out of gear. It was stuck so I put the clutch in and started it up. Started up fine and I drove it around the block while attempting to shift it out of first. No luck, so I brought it back in and put it back up on jack stands. I crawled under and moved the shift lever and was able to get it out of first. I then started the car up and attemted to shift it back in to first no luck.
Any suggestions. |
Hi joe,
My guess would be that the clutch is not fully disengaging, leaving force applied to the transmission input shaft and gears. They don't shift well with the clutch dragging!! Since you were just working on the clutch lines, I'd check and make sure the system is bled well. Are you using an external slave cylinder or a hydraulic throw-out bearing? The thow-out bearings can be tricky to bleed. Steve |
Thanks I'll rebleed and see. I'm using an external Slave Cylinder.
