My Cobra is Broken!!!

I was running down the road today (68deg:) ) and downshifting when the clutch went to the floor. It came back up but the car was stuck in first gear. I limped into my Mom's driveway, I was going to visit, and got out to see what was wrong. Called for some tech support (thanks Don Scott, Minnisota Motorsports) and discovered that the clutch slave cylinder was only moving about 3/4".
I hated to but had to leave it at her house overnight. In the cold, without a cover, without a babysitter, not within MY view:CRY: .
I am a nervous wreck, I hope I can sleep tonight. Going to go bleed the clutch tomorrow and hope thats it. Don talked about ball joints breaking, throw out bearings going and other things that are way beyond my abilities. . Wish me luck

I can relate, today I installed an infrared garage heater for mine. It's going down to 16 degrees tonight. It was just too cold in that garage for that little Unique.

Why not just call a tow truck?

You will sleep better

Mine to.

Sorry to hear about that, John. Hope you can fix it easily and cheaply. It was pretty darn nice yesterday, wasn't it? I couldn't help but take mine out for a spin as well (I guess 80 miles is more than just a spin, huh?).

Keith :)

Well, bleeding the clutch didn't help. Its almost like something has come loose between the clutch fork and inside the clutch housing. Is the arm that the clutch slave cylinder supposed to be so loose? If you take the return spring loose the arm just wobbles around.

j, sounds like the pivot ball may have come loose and fell out . The fork will have a little play front to back but definitley not up and down. At the opposite end of the fork you will see 2 spring clips that slide over the pivot ball. If the fork has come off or the ball fell out then this would cause the problem. The only other attachment on the fork is to the throwout bearing. If the bearing broke you would have heard lots of noise. More than likely the ball.

I second DSCOTT's recommendation on the pivot ball. Also check to make sure the pressure plate is not loose, along with the bellhousing and the tranny to bellhousing bolts.
