mulitdisc clutch ?

is any one running a mulitdisc clutch setup like tilton or quarter master ? Was wondering how these would be on the street for in town driving.

Lee,

These units are for racing only. They are like light switches. ON=OFF.

If you try to slip them, (Particularly the sintered bronze units) they will quickly burn up.

Of course, you could use one of the carbon units and it would work. (They slip like the devil until they heat up.) But you could buy 50 standard competition clutches for the price of one of these.

Agree with Richard. But it will solve your bellhousing-to-ground clearance issues. They do have a tiny moment of inertia, and they are cool, but I wouldn't put one on unless I allready decided on running 14:1 compression and no street miles.

There are a few guys using custom twin and triple plate clutches over here. While the 7.25" or smaller are totally undriveable, the 9" clutches seem to be holding up pretty well. You will look pretty silly at stoplights - lurching away from a standstill or chirping a tire, but the right combo of friction materials will give you a clutch that can handle BIG HP with just enough street manners to get you home from the racetrack.

Around town on a regular basis? NO!!!

Are you planning on running a straight-cut, dog geared racing trans with this clutch?
