Mercury Marauder and a bumper grommet ?

Hi all
Saw a new Marauder in the dealership I hang out at. Nice........I must say that DOHC 4.6 is a wide beast.
The car was in black and came with 18 inch wheels. The only surprise to me was that it was not IRS.
It priced out at 48G's CDN

Now for a question
I have bought the proper rubber grommets for the quick jack rods and my builder went ahead and drilled the holes in the body for what looks like only the OD of the rods........How do I go about drilling and cutting for the grommets. I know they are slightly undersize of the grommets perimeter. The fronts are especially tricky as they take in alot of the cars fender contours.
Does anyone have a template that matches the grommets border
I guess I could mic one out..........

At this point, it's all hand work. You need a die grinder (or a fast drill) and an abrasive bur.

You can actually make the hole larger than the grommet's groove diameter, as long as it's not larger than the grommets OD.

If you can bolt the rods in the body, take
a pencil, lay it on the rod and slowly twist
it around the rod drawing a circle on the body, worked for me.

Bob and Perry thanks for the ideas...great help.
These are those smalls jobs one is actually scared to tackle for fear of the irreversable goof up.......
