Colour of the engine (EFI 302)

Can someone tell me what colour I should use for the transmission, engineblock and bottom of engine so my engine looks as similar to the original?

Used rattle can Ford red for the block. Original was most likely rattle can Ford blue.

Aluminum heads were not painted.

Oil pan was painted gloss black rattle can Rust-Oleum appliance epoxy enamel. Doesn't chip. Original was likely rattle can Ford blue.

Bellhousing, if aluminum, should not be painted. If iron, should be rattle can Ford blue. Although aluminum, painted mine rattle can Rust-Oleum appliance epoxy black.

Trans, if aluminum, should not be painted. If iron, haven't the vagueist idea. T5Z is aluminum and did not paint it.

The original colors for Cobra motors (Hi-Po 289s and 427s) thru '65 is black. '66 427s could be either black or Ford engine dark blue. Bellousings were left natural aluminum as were the aluminum B/W T-10s 4 speeds. The toploader 4-speeds were painted black.

Mike
