Ferrules on an Everett-Morrison

1 Attachment(s)
I have an Everett-Morrison replica. I bought ferrules from Finishline (E-M is still restructuring). The area around the through hole for the ferrule is counterbored on the E-M body, but the counterbore is much larger than the top of the ferrule I acquired from Finishline. Does E-M have ferrules that are larger, or do I need to fill in these counterbores to match the ferrule?

Hi mg2166,

Looks a bit undersized but not by much.

Take a peek in my gallery at the photo titled "Completed interior" in its largest size and you can see the E-M ferrules. I hope this picture is large enough for you to tell what size you need.

Seems to me the most important thing is for the hole in the middle of the ferrule to be large enough for your top and sidecurtains to plug into, would you agree?

Hope this helps,

Tom

Thanks Tom,

It is hard to tell for sure from your pictures, but it seems like your ferrules have a similar amount of exposed counter bore around them as mine. Do you have a measurement for the outside diameter of the ferrule. Mine measures 3/4".

MG2166,
In building my EM I wound up with some spares. They are bigger than the ones in your picture. There is still a gap between the ferral and the counterbore. I know I have at least 2, and possibly all 6 ( I'll check.) If you want them they're yours for what ever the EM price for the is. Let me know.

I also used the ferrules from Finish Line. I filled in the countershunk hole flush with the door and redrilled the hole. The bottom of the ferrule sits on top of the door.

Jopper,
I think that's the route I am going to take. I just don't like the look of the counterbore around the ferrule. Do you have side curtains? Do they sit too high because the ferrules are now raised higher than before?

Cobra Guy,
Thanks for the offer, but I think I will be going the same route as Jopper.

Mark,
Yes I have the side curtains from EM. There is a flap that runs along the bottom of the curtain that is about 1 1/2" wide that sits on the door. That flap easily covers up any gap that would occur from the ferrule being raised a little. The only modification I had to make to the side curtains was the pins that go into the ferrules were a little bit too large in diameter. I took a file and reduced the O.D. a little and they fit perfect. I think the final look is great.
