how do you remove oil filler tube?
Hi all.....
I'm still putting the top end of my engine back together and I dont want the oil filler tube that came with the manifold as it inter feres with my fuel line (and I don't like the look) I have put a pipe wrench on it and given it a couple of test tugs ,but it shows no sign of budging before the tube collapses and I'm afraid to scar it all up in case I end up "stuck" with it ....... SUGGESTIONS PLEASE:confused: %/ thanks Karl |
Karl,
I don't know if this will help you. I had a problem with one of mine and took a pipe cutter to it to shorten it. Good luck, Steve |
I found a socket the same size i.d. put it in the tube then use channel lock's, it's a tight fit. I placed a freeze plug in the hole. Hope this helped, Mike

Karl:
If it not mounted a bit of heat applied (propane torch or careful use with oxy/acetalyne on the underside of the manifold around the circumfrence of the tube should release the grip of the interference fit. If you want to save the tube use a "strap type grip wrench" outside to avoid marring the tube and use a socket inside to prevent the wall from collapsing. It should twist out and then use cup plug to fill the hole. ................Rick |
Thanks guys,
the socket in the tube was just the trick, don't know why I did'nt think of it . |
