Original CSX dry sump setup???

Is this really the way Shelby had his dry-sump assembly in the S/C Comp cars? I thought they'd make the lines a bit more substantial than clear plastic lines with 20 cent hose clamps?!?!?

The car is for sale here....

Soooooooooooooooo....................

Whats the asking?

Specialk 03-15-2003 04:49 AM

Craig,

I believe that is a vent line going to the puke tank. The pressure lines used AN fittings and steel braided cloth covered lines. I am not sure what the exact specs were on original lines, but the lines currently available are rated to 3,000 psi +. :)

Here's an older pic of the dry sump setup in CSX3004 (from cobrajeff)...
...heavy cloth lines back to the engine, but same crummy compression clamp:p

Thanks for the extra detail Ron. Is there anything on a genuine Cobra that you DON'T have a photo of?!? I tell you what, I'd really like to see a close-up photo of the stitching of a GENUINE 60s 427 "street" seat..... (It must be the original / unrestored stitching - I want to see some patina as proof !!!!)

OK - there's that challenge out of the way :3DSMILE:

Kris, I had another look at http://www.comfortcarconnection.com/...s/Image035.jpg this photo to try to see where the valve cover breather hoses are mounted, but I couldn't find it??? What you're saying makes sense, I couldn't imagine that they would have used clear plastic. Thanks for the info! Are you coming to the Fling this year, or will we have to visit you at SAI again? :)

...or, CSX3350

http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...1880inv13e.jpg

...how's that?
:p

:3DSMILE: **) :3DSMILE: Excellent work - fantastic!!!!!!! Such detail, and so quick to reply.

WOW !!!

(Do you think that's the soft top rolled up behind the seat of 3358? This isn't a trick question!)

computerworks 03-15-2003 05:51 AM

...could be. Street cars had that stowage pouch behind the seats for the top/curtains or the tonneau.

Looking forward to seeing you again at the Fling... be here sooner than we think.

I'll be there! What's the chance of your car making it there?

Great!

...my car's chances? ....slim to none.
No, ...none to none.
Work over the winter has been slow...too cold in the garage!
Lots more to do on the undercarriage.
..won't even think about drivetrain until deep into the summer.
(sigh)
Target = DVSF IV! :p

750hp 03-18-2003 03:27 AM

So, you're planning on DVSF4? If all goes according to plan, there might also be up to 4 Aussie Cobras making the journey across the pond for DVSF4..... ;) I'm not sure whether it'll happen, but there'll likely be a 1000hp supercharged small block, a 920hp carburetted 15:1 compression 9000rpm small block and an 800hp twin turbo all-wheel-drive version. All three cars live within 20 minutes of each other, and all are at various stages of assembly / reassembly at the moment. I'm sure that one or two others from the southern states will omplete the 40ft container load.

Oh, and there won't be a C5AE-H block in the container by the looks of it. I've looked at 6 or 7 blocks, but none of them have those markings... :(
