Q&A: Selecting a car cover

Besides California Car Cover, who else makes high-quality covers? What manufacturer and model do you have? Are you happy with it? CCC offers 8 different types. Some of the offerings seem to overlap one another. Very annoying.

As for use, I plan to use it mainly to keep dust and pollen off the car. I want some amount of ding & scratch protection as well as some reasonable amount of rain protection (flash flood protection would be a bit much).

How much should I expect to pay? Some of CCC's offerings are well over $200.

My only problem with the covers out there is that there is no provision to keep the cover from burning on the side pipes. I generally try to keep the cover off the pipes for a few minutes to allow them to cool off. I had one oops and melted a hole in the cover. Still functional but looks ugly.

I called CCC, I have their NOAH cover, to see if they had some sort of material that could be sewn in to keep this from happening. They said they do not offer antyhing like that.

Mike
