cfm

is 30cfm at the peak lift of a said cam worth much hp?

RallySnake 04-22-2003 10:49 AM

The quick answer is: at low RPM it may be a drawback, at high RPM an advantage. If you give more specifics (engine size, intake manifold type, exhause header size, carb size and all the cam specs, someone here can probably give you a much better answer.

347,10.1comp,quad 44mm idf webers,1 3/4 4into1 headers,solid flat cam 560 lift ,248@.050,110 lobes,the extra 33cfm comes from 48mm ida's with 42 mm chokes....any takers?

Hotfingrs 04-23-2003 03:14 AM

With some info missing...the computer says roughly 40 lbs of torque and 50 horse, but this is all speculation, as other things are involved...I.E. can you heads flow another 30 cfm

347 04-23-2003 05:51 AM

yes they can, the 33 cfm comes from having the head/manifold,carb flowed ,the difference between the 44 and the 48's on the flow bench is 33cfm at 560lift

intake port flows 288cfm @.560lift

head/manifold flows 280cfm@.560lift

head/manifold/48's flow 256cfm@.560lift

44's 33cfm less @.560lift

the heads are ported alloy windsor snr's

if i was to run a four barrel,would i see flow of 280plus @.560lift?

Hotfingrs 04-23-2003 06:05 AM

Look at AFR website...their SBF 205 heads flow 291cfm @ .500 lift
