Ignition Switch
This afternoon my wife took my Cobra out for a drive to a meeting. She had a great time and the Cobra did fine except for one thing: the ignition switch no longer works.
My wife said that when she arrived at the meeting she tried to shut down the car and remove the key from the ignition but the key would not turn. After a lot of fiddling 'round with the key she finally got the Cobra shut off and the key removed. Leaving the meeting she couldn't get the ignition switch to turn again. Fiddlin' around with the key and she finally got the switch to turn. Now that the car is home I've been playing with the key and the ignition switch and I can't get the stupid thing to work! Is there an adjustment on the GM steering columns for ignition switches or should I do what I really want to do and scrap the steering column and buy one from DV? Oh, my wife has now driven about 45 miles by herself in the Cobra. She said she had fun pulling out into traffic and burnin' rubber :) |
Buy the DV column..
Glad the wife likes HER cobra :) so when you gonna start building YOURS???? |
Nope, mine is going to be a GT40 :)
Another thing on the list; seats with adjustable backs. My wife is tired of using throw pillows to boost herself up in the seats! And I thought this was going to be *my* car! |
Ptek no adjustment on the columns not to big a deal the change the switch if its not a tilt, switch at Napa 8.00 12.00 $$$ only thing is pressing the spring down that is under the steering wheel lock ring. Know what year ect. might be more able to help if you want to try.

My (current) column is a Chevette Tilt column. I'm going to pull it out of the Cobra tonight and see what I can do to make it work. I have a feeling I'll be calling DV tomorrow to order up a replacement!
