Possible To Change 2 Piece Main Seal To One?
Perhaps someone might be able to answer two questions; when was the change, on a 351W block, from a two piece crank seal to one piece? Second; can a two piece block be converted to a one piece design, reasonably?
Thank you, auto10x Bill |
Bill,
I think they changed in 1980. No. Poorboy |
You can change a two piece to a one piece, but it should be done when they are line-honing your mains. They cut the back of the block to accept it. There may be an easier way, but that's the way we used to do it. works great. A properly installed two piece seal works fine too.
