Aluminum in Engine Compartment

Hello, I am in the process of covering my fiberglass foot boxes and firewall with aluminum. My question is, do I need to put insulation between the Aluminum and fiberglass in order to protect the fiberglass from the engine and header heat? Or will the fiberglass be O.K. with just the aluminum covering it. I do plan on putting insulation on the inside of the car underneath the carpet. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Mike,

I've seen it done both ways. Personally, as to the vertical surfaces of the footboxes in the engine compartment, I'd put small spacers at the screw and/or rivet points to create a small air gap.
