Carpeting questions..how much material?

Hi gang

For those who have been there, how much carpet in sq yrds or what have youi will do the cars cockpit??

My builder also said he uses black trunk felt to do the more tricky compound curve areas ( like the fender caps) He uses lots of sections and some get bound edges if they happen to be the topmost pieces.
He uses underlay sparingly so as to not bulk up certain areas. I think only the tunnel top, footbox tops side etc

Just basically want to know this amount so I can order an amount with a little extra from an upholstery shop...you know the confident "I need so many sq yards" answer......LOL

oh yeah .....he said lots of spray on industrial strength glue.

He didn't tell me how much material because he farms this job out to an upholstery shop!

I just installed a foam/insulation bond to my interior. I did the complete area, floor, foot boxes, trans tunnel and behind the seats with a roll 60" x 120" and had a very small amount left over.

Chifo
TY for the response...
looks like whatever one uses a roll/piece 5 by 10 ft should cover it

What was the material you were using in this application..simple underlay or was it the aluminum backed thermal barrier some speak of?

The insulation I used was a closed cell foam with an aluminized thermal barrier bonded to the rear. Its a bit more costly than the pad/aluminized but what I really liked about it is that it will not take on any water due to the closed cell foam. For an open top car this was quite a plus in my mind.

Where is this available from?

Chifo Jr 05-28-2003 07:07 PM

Are you asking about the insulation?

CobraMan 05-28-2003 08:06 PM

Yes. The type with the foam and foil.

Thanks

You can buy it from Larry Phillips at Prorod. He can be reached at 760/746-5518 or by email at prorod940@aol.com. It should be between $60 and $80 to do your interior complete. A bit more but you wont have mold/mildew problems like with the jute based insulations.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give him a call.
