289 weber bellcrank

Does anybody run, or know of a weber IDA set up on a 289 that uses a central bellcrank instead of a side pull linkage(that runs properly) and does said set up use an intake that mounts the carbs with all fuel outlets on the outside, or two out and two in??
Thanks,

Tim

They can be run either way with a bellcrank; however, the geometry for the carbs where the lines run to the outside is a little more complex from my humble perspective.

This setup on an FIA has the bellcrank but orients the carbs parallel, not mirrored.
There's a good reason for that. It's the best way to duplicate the geometry that
governs how fast the carb opens on both banks.

Also, if you can, stay from the throttle interconnects and have the carbs connected in front by a link and in the rear by a link. The normal way is to let the front and rear carbs on each side connect with one another. There is less room for variability when opening the throttle if you employ the former method.

Whats the scoop ? I have an Inglese built 48IDA Weber carb system, for a Ford 351W, with the bellcrank arrangement on the drivers side(side pull linkage). This is the way Inglese built the system without my input. I was just talking to a tech at Pierce manifolds and he said the side pull linkage will not work!! That I must go with a center mounted bellcrank linkage. What is the absolute best method ? The tech at Pierce said Inglese does not Know what they are doing ?? And now possibly myself !!!

Many of the GT-350s had the side pull linkage (I assume you mean that the throttle hook up is to the outside of the carbs on the driver's side) and it worked just find. Some of the systems are more precise with different types of linkage set ups, but that doesn't mean that the side pull won't work. I have a unit with it off a Shelby and it worked just fine for the previous owner.
