Dual electric fan mounts
Has anyone changed the mount for the front electric fans ? My Unique has two square bars running from side to side. I am tinkering with the idea of a more trick:cool: looking mount. It seems like a focal point of the car that needs some detail to match the rest of the car.
Thanks for the help! |
BB427,
I ordered dual fans from Finish Line but did not like the mounting system, which was essentially two black shelving brackets, between which the fans were mounted. I used the motors and blades, but fashioned new mounting hardware with pieces I picked up at Home Depot and Sears. (See picture below.) The cross bar is a piece of rectangular tubular steel bar. The fans are attached to the bar with a wide flat "L" shaped decking bracket with a hole in the middle. I trimmed and shaped it a little so that it can not be seen from the front. The end mounting brackets are fashioned from "L" brackets and short lengths of a larger diameter steel bar. I wrapped the ends of the bar with some rubber gasket material I picked up at Sears. With a little WD40, the ends fit perfectly into the mounting brackets and allow for some adjustment of the length of the bar. All the parts cost around 15 bucks. I may eventually paint the hardware black, but for now I like the polished look. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...h_fans-med.jpg Hope that helps. |
That looks nice. I was also wanting something that I could run the wires through to hide them and idea would allow this.
Thank you for the reply Brent |
