Service Bulletin for SPF solenoid wiring?
Does anyone have a copy of the SPF service bulletin that covers how to wire the solenoid? It's the one showing the battery and starter cables on the same post (driver's side). If you have it in MSWord format, please email me....rivelli@qwest.net
Thanks! |
If you have a high torque starter on your motor, the starting solenoid is mounted on the starter, the same way GM has be doing this for years.
The starting solenoid on the firewall of your Spf is a relay only. The hot wire from the battery passes thru the heay duty contact of the soleniod to the starting motor. The wire from the igniton switch which is momentary picks up the solenoid. The wire going to to the starter motor solenoid should be connected on the terminal "ignition" on the firewall solenoid tats is supplied from the factory. If not you will experiance starter motor still running at half voltage and which keeps the firewall solenoid energized, but the trow out clutch keeps the gear to the flyweel disengaged du the speed fo the flywheel. When hit a bump the solenoid on the firewall will drop out. Problem is factory does not what kind of starting motor is used. |
