Recommended Holley Carbs for Blue Thunder MR 8V Intake
Is anyone running the Blue Thunder MR 8V Intake? If so, what carbs are you running? Are the mechanical or vacuum? Are you running a std trans or auto?
Thanks, |
For now, I run two 450 mechanical secondaries, and stright linkage for kick a$$ acceleration. Power valves and jets will need adjusted for your engines profile.

Pardon me, I don't have the BT intake but, It doesn't make a large difference. 2x4's are 2x4's.........

Wahoo,
The Blue Thunder intake is almost an exact copy of the original Fomoco midriser, if you want mechanical secondaries use the 450's like Perry, If you want to run 590's , 600's, or 650's I would run vacuum secondaries, with a mild progressive linkage.(a more user freindly setup) KK |
Everyone
I am considering making some changes on the 428 in my car - more aggressive cam and a different intake set up. A local guy here in New Mexico suggests I do the dual quad set up with a BT manifold and two 550 cfm carbs. For ultimate performance I am sure he is right. But what really is the difference between how the car will run/perform with a great intake/cam/heads and a single four barrel 750 cfm and the dual quad, BT manifold and two 550 CFM four barrels? Are the dual quads difficult to keep in tune/maintain running well? Thanks John |
John,
I cant really speak for the differences between single and double , but the 2x4 set up i run is very stable . Once your cam is run in, tune your idle jets for max vaccuum , and size your power valves accordingly. it will run like a "raped ape" KK |
