chevy engine in an olds

i plan on putting a sbc 350, 1979 into a 1986 cutlass supreme. the cutlass has the b-o-p tranny. i need to know if there is an adaptor on the market that will allow me to bolt the olds tranny to the sbc.

thanks for all help given.

I think there are adapters out there, but for the cost you could probably get a used chevy trans. The B-O-P trans is pretty desirable in the rodding world and you could sell it to offset the trans cost.

Thanks for the help. will a chevy trans bolt right into the olds?

The Chevy trans is the same as the Olds, except for the bellhousing bolt pattern.

They MIGHT (not sure) have different U-joints on the output yoke. I gave a nice 10 bolt rearend out of my 67 chevelle to a buddy with a 70 buick skylark, he needed to have the rear U-joint on his driveshaft changed to work with the chevy rearend. Different cup diameters. GM: almost everything interchanges, just some work is required. I would sell the BOP trans and get a chevy patterned tranny.

I once sold an El Camino to this guy, the car had a bad clutch. I ran into him later. He had put a CADDILAC auto trans on the Chev 400 small block!!! Not ALL the bolt holes lined up, he just used the ones that "did"! It worked fine, but looked "odd" as heck!
