Ignition Wires - Which and Why?

As a new owner of a 428FE engine, I was wondering what are the most popular ignition wires and what attributes I should be looking for.

I currently have MOROSO Blue MAX spiral core wires that appear to be 8mm wires in powder blue. My Distributor is a Mallory Unilite, with electronic photo switch inside and female Mallory cap. Coil is a Mallory PowerShot coil and beyond that is an MSD 6AL.

I was looking at Magnecor wires, specifically the 8514 set which are KV85 (8.5mm) racing wires. What other wires sets should I consider? There is no radio or such in the CobERA so I could care less about radio RFI supression types of wires. I just need nice thick wires that can withstand heat, especially near the headers.

I like Taylor wires. They are lifetime guaranteed, and Taylor is a major wire/cable manufacturer. Spiro-pro I think they call them. 8mm, nice boots at the plug end, reasonably priced. Your favorite may vary.

Think the MSD low resistance 8.5mm wires are the best on the market. Was using Ford Motorsport 9mm wires until I compared the actual wire size between the FMS, and MSD. MSD wire inside the insulation is 3x the the size of the FMS.

MSD does some pretty boneheaded stuff; like not putting an adjustable vacuum advance unit in their vacuum advance distributors, and not telling you how to install one.

But their plug wire sets are first rate. If you spring for a set, get a container of their boot lube and use liberally on inside of boot. Boots tend to stick to plugs when changing them and you have to replace the boot.
