351 cleveland
Two questions:
Ford built an experimental 3-2's manifold for the 351C, but I can not find one anywhere?! What do I need to do to keep this 9:1 compression 351C from getting hot in my 32 coupe? (I detuned this so I can enjoy using regular)**) |
try Ford Power parts. I think they are still in C.A. I have seen some very rare stuff in their used parts store. This was a very long time ago.

Thanks a lot for the info. I'll keep trying until one turns up. It's good to know somebody else is aware of a tri-power set up for the cleveland.
Thanks again! |
I hope you have deep pockets? The last one that I saw went for around $2000.00, and that was just the intake. As for running hot, how much radiator do you have?

It's standard dimensions for the '32 but with 4 deep. Don't know the actual capicity or dimensions. I thought about a different water pump, but don't know where to find one that has the right pressure and will be flat enough to fit.
Thanks for the reply--$2000 is a lot of money, but I'll have to cross that bridge when and if I find one. JB |
Switched from 3-2's to 4-2's
....and I thought I got a bunch of money for my 351C 3-deuce set-up at $800 - but, that was a lonnggg time ago.
Even had a very rare "Group 2" Cougar air cleaner (looks like an oblong Cobra cast aluminum air cleaner, except had a Cougar cat instead of COBRA lettering) that I had modified to match the carb spacing (351C 3 deuce spacing is like Mopar 3 deuce, not like FE Ford). They are rare - haven't seen any for sale in years. Have seen maybe a half-dozen sets over the years - mostly in the Detroit area. Good luck searching. Jeff |
Thanks for the reply.

Just curious was the 3-2's for the 4 bl. heads?

Cleveland 3-deuces for 4V heads
The Cleveland 3-deuce set-up, like most Cleveland performance parts of the era, was designed for 4-barrel heads only.
The 3-2 set-up was originally designed for a 366cid version of the Cleveland engine that never made it into production vehicles. Here is what the set-up looked like on my Pantera: http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...carbs3-med.jpg The tri-power looked great, and ran very well, but I still couldn't resist putting FOUR carburetors up there instead of three. Here's what it looked like from the interior of the Pantera: http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...carbs2-med.jpg That car was a lot of fun - the Webers made a lot more noise (than they do in a Cobra) positioned right behind your head. When you stomped the throttle, it sounded like that Cleveland was sucking in the entire Earth's atmosphere! What a sound! Jeff |
Do the head gasket mod, run a high volume water pump, set your T-Stat at a break temp of 195, run a five row aluminum radiator ( a big one ) with "wetter" additive and a 16 inch fan that pushes 2700 or more CFM.
You should be able to run in the desert with this setup. Just my $0.02 |
