Power Brakes

A&C's manual shows installation of a power booster and some guys who have A&C's and went that route told me it takes up a lot of space. Also, you have to make a cutout in the inner fender to allow room for the booster.

Although my build is not yet complete, a lot of guys tell me that power brakes are not necessary, especially if you have four wheel discs. I went with a Wilwood dual master cylinder setup with a Wilwood pedal and balance bar. One cylinder controls the rear and the other controls the front. The balance bar is used to balance the amount of pressure and therefore stopping power that goes to each, i.e. the fronts and the rears.

With a single master cylinder you have to use a proportioning valve to control the amount of pressure going to fronts vs. rears. Using two separate master cylinders eliminates the need for the proportioning valve.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Good Luck

Tony

I've changed my brake and clutch setup from the one that came with my kit to a Wilwood setup. In doing so , I had to give up my booster for power brakes. I've driven the car with and without power brakes. My kit has discs on all four corners and I don't feel any difference. These cars are so light that IMO power brakes are not necessary but fall in the category of personal preference.

Good Luck with your project!
