Wilwood Brake info needed
I'm looking at the the Una-lite Wilwood front disk setup (#140-2129b) for my car. It's a 4-piston front disk setup for MustangII spindles. But looking the order book over I see a brake set they call the "heavy duty" and am now wondering out loud if that might be a better choice for my car.
The particulars- Cobra weighs 2630lbs fully loaded, 1380 on the front, I have a line/lock and is primarly a street oriented car that does see both 1/4 mile blasts in the summer and some road course flogging. Anyone out there have experience with this stuff or am I confused as usual? :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE cobrashock |
With your engine and trans, I think that the Dynalite system is too small. I would go for a Superlite-based system if you can fit the larger rotors.

Brakes
Ron,
I agree with Bob. I had the Dynalites in front and braking was marginal at best. I switched to Superlites with 12.19 rotors and stops much better.Of course I am only slowing down a 408 CI engine. RD |
Levy Racing is a premier Cobra builder. They are also a Wilwood distributor. I would get ahold of Gordon Levy. He would be glad to advise you on brakes, one of his specialties.

Superlites it is - the costs were only a couple of hundred more. I'm going to use a dual caliper setup with a one piston dynalite for drag racing off the line lock. Thanks for the really good lead, as you guys for sure kept me from making a " bigtime" mistake.
