demon carb identification
I am looking at a speed demon carb but have no idea which one it is. 650, 750, 850? How does one tell? I can not seem to find numbers on the carb. HELP PLEASE!

Looks like their web site is down. Give them a call:

Rdorman, I second Roscoe's advise. I'm in the process of getting a new stroker built and I decided to go with a Demon carb. You need to call their tech department and answer question so they can give you a configuration code. They will ask you the intake, C/R, displacement, cam profile, transmission type, rear end gearing etc. and configure the appropriate model. Most of my Cobra friends in the Atlanta area are getting Speed Demon configs, but I got a Mighty Demon carb number (which has been received and installed on my intake). What a beautiful piece of equipment! My test fire up is scheduled for Friday. I plan to be there and will let you know how well the carb did out of the box.
Make sure you have all of your cam info. |
Tell me more...
....... about this configuration code will ya?
Thanks Rick |
You have to get the configuration code from the techs at Barry Grant. The code merely defines the particular configuration of the carb they define for your specific application i.e. CFM, venturi size, jets, vac or mech secondaries, Speed vs Mighty vs Road etc. Your cam, heads, intake, tranny, rear end gearing, weight of the car etc. will be factored into the equation. It only takes a couple of minutes if you have the info in front of you. The tech will give you the config code and since they don't sell retail, you can take the code to any shop that carries BG carbs and they will order it for you. Southern Automotive bought mine as part of my engine build.

Impressive
I have never heard of such a service from Holley, very impressive.
The deal is I am looking at a used Speed Demon and the owner does not know which CFM it is. I am short on time and need to find out. The BG site seems to still be down and I have been repeatedly on hold on there tech line. Thanks Rick |
