EGR Valve

I have a built 302 with edelbrock heads, Intake and I am piping up the vacuum tubes. I have it down to very little and I am trying to figure out weather I need the EGR or not. If not do I block off the hole or just plug the tube

Don't need it. It's purpose is to lower the "peak combustion temperature" to lower NOX emissions. How does it work?

By introducing exhaust gas into the combustion chamber the fresh air fuel ratio is "diluted". This results in a smaller bang and thus, lower temps.

Thats why they call it: Exhaust Gas RECIRCULATION

What do I do with the EGR. Can I have a blank cover made to block it off ?

Excaliber 10-07-2003 02:10 PM

Yeah, thats a good idea. Easier said than done but it would look better! How about an after market intake manifold?

Other wise just plug the vacuum line that used to connect to it and leave it in place. It won't hurt nothing.
