Fluid Evacuation Pump - Manual
Hi Guys:
I would like to get a fluid evacuation pump that I can use to drain my brake lines and clutch master cylinder lines. I have seen two or three types, one being a tall unit that can do triple duty as an oil, trannie, rearend and with optional hoses brake pump. The others are smaller and are suitable only for brake fluid extraction. These all use either a vacuum chamber or a hand caliper to cause vacuum. There is so much experience on this board I was hoping to have you all point me in the right direction. All ears.... |
I purchased a MightyVac vacuum/pressure pump that I have used on brakes and an automatic transmission. It has a pressure/vacuum gauge that is helpful. The pump has worked well for the things that I have done but I had to build a bigger container for withdrawing trans fluid out through the dipstick.

I have one....her name is Barbara....
Sorry, Roscoe |
Roscoe,
You may wish you had bought a Mighty Vac if "Barbara" reads this. REDC' I have the Mighty Vac and I have used it for my clutch and brakes as well as siphoning gas from my barrel to my fuel cell (I change hoses of course). I haven't had an occassion to add or subtract fluid from my trans or diff but I wouldn't hesitate to use the Mighty Vac. If you do use your Might Vac to bleed your Hyd clutch get back on line I found an easier and quicker way using the Mighty Vac. Good Luck, Clois |
Roscoe:
You gotta' send Barb over to help then.... Here's how'd it'ad go.... "ok Barb, down..... slowly...... ... Stop." "Ok Barb, Up." "Ok Barb, down..... slowly...... ... Stop." Hummm..... Sounds like a sex ed techniques class.. No Premature Fluid Evacuation.....;) So, it looks like I need to find a MightyVac? Cheers |
I think a company in the back of HUSTLER used to sell them. Check there.
It that doesn't work JC Whitney had them for around 70 bucks with all types of adapters. |
Roscoe,
Are you in trouble now or what? My wife still reminds me of the little reference I made to her being more quailfied as a brake bleeder than I was. Now, I have the Mighty Vac and I have to do my own bleeding and pumping. I hate that. Clois |
