FIA springs

who can tell me the propper number of the spring- leaves front and rear for 289FIA.
Is it 10and 8, or is it 8and 7 leaves ???
I can't read it out of any 289FIA pictures, but I think you can tell me the correct number.

best wishes from Germany

Originally 10/8,but on my race car is 11/8,if you interested after extensive testing we have definite with the Sarrailh's crew the best compromise front and rear spring rate.

Bernie

Hey boys, is nobody able to tell me the propper no of leaves ???
Who was building the orig. FIA's ??? Shelby ? What was in ???

P.S. Thanks Bernie for the quick response. I remember your car pretty well, and know than you had 11 leaves in Le Mans last year.

10 front
8 rear

I remember wondering myself, and I found this answer in a book. I will try to find the source.

Fritz
From the AC chassis book the street cars had 10 front and 8 rear for what its worth. My Hi-Tech has the same but I'm not sure what the spring rate is, all I know is that its damn hard and I feel everything. When I get the Kirkham sway bar installed at the front end to control the roll, I am going to try removing a leaf or so to try and soften it up for the street.
All tips for setting up the suspension are most welcome by me.

Bernie - I am using Damper tech shocks at present but intend to change in the future. Do you have the model or part number for the Cobra Koni's with the re-bound and compression adjustement.

Andy,
These Koni's are custom made by the factory on my own specs, try Spax schocks not too bad for road use,

Hallo Andy,
I'm also on the way to buy custom made shocks from Spax, double adjustible. We have double adjustibles from Penske Racing in US, but the price is 800$ each plus shipping, duties and taxes. I need gas filled shocks to built them upside down in my car. I have original red Konis. They touch with the body my brake calipper-bracket. (big Willwood racing system). Standad Konis work fine, but hard work to make them stiffer, when you have a bumpstop on.

Andy FIA 10-21-2003 01:23 AM

Fritz - Please let me know how you get on with Spax.

Andy
