Noise in the rear of the Car

I was out driving my car and noticed a noise that was coming from under the car somewhere between the transmission (a tremec 3550) and the rear end (a Ford 9" posi). The noise sounds like "ahruk, ahruk, ahruk". It is not heard during acceleration or decceleration. It is only prominent when the car is neither being accelerated or decelerated. I drained the tranny and refilled it with GM Synchromesh fluid. The old fluid did not look like it had any metal in it. The tranny shifts smoothly. Can anyone help???

Thanks Wilf and KK. I will definitely check out the UJ's. With the short drive shaft, I'm sure that they take some abuse. PZAZZ
