more tranny leak
To answer Back in Black from Olympia, Washington:
I did not have time to call yet; instead I e-mailed Richmond and G-Force (Longs Machine and Tool) twice but have not heard anything. For now, I will assume they are busy and will get back to me in due time. Meanwhile, I will contact some of the Cobra builders in the tri-state area and/or go a transmission shop. I have been servicing my own car for five some but thought it was time to have some pros do it when I also asked them to check the leak. I turned the car in with one small leak, got it back with two big ones plus a leaking differential. The latter turned out to have been overfilled, but of course nobody could recall that. Funny thing too, they told it was good for a car to leak a little. Some cars are even designed to leak they said. I could not believe my ears. I have other cars that don't leak at all. Must be something wrong with them? Maybe I should crack something. Any other "funny" stories out there? |
If my 67 chevy never leaked, it probubly would have rusted away by now, but I doubt that general motors engineered that steady hemmorage of oil.

It's unusual for me to state something this way, BUT
I think that's BS, friend Irv. The guy at Richmond, In my phone call to tech support, was very unfriendly as to leakage.. it was the typical "we could not be at fault " BS. Riiight
And you deserve better for the money spent than to have to clean tranny fluids from your car underside and garage floor, and to have to replenish your tranny regurlarly. I would expect it from an old tranny with a lotta miles, such as my Dana in my 30 YEAR old International Scout 2, (but it's still just fine after 30 years, I doubt these Richmonds will be!).....but not a new tranny  |
