Clutch Recommendation
I need someone to recommend a good all around clutch and pressure plate. As some of you know my clutch started slipping at run and gun last week and I am ready to order a new set up. What I want is a good all around clutch (maybe Kevlar) that I can use on the street as well as at the race track.
I appreciate your comments and suggestions. Clois |
Well, I use a McLeod system. It works well and hasn't been a problem.
If you are doing the race thing, this steel inlaied in aluminum sounds like it can drop weight and improve performance. Do you have a toploader? Just my $0.02 :3DSMILE: |
Yes, I do have a toploader. I was really hoping someone that is using a ZOOM clutch would let me know what they think of their clutch assembly.

I run a Centerforce with a Tilton hydraulic throwout bearing with a 428 and a toploader. Works like a champ.

Clois,
I use a 12" McLeod Racing clutch (kevlar unit) with a 12" pressure plate as well. I run Racing cobra slicks and hammer my car and never have experienced slip. I'm participating in a drag event on 11/7 so that should tell the story. BTW, thanks for the info regarding starting in 2nd rather thank 1st. I might add that I am using a Richmod gear Race 5sp rather than a toploader - if it matters. |
I used McLeod on all customers cars (some well over 600 lb/ft), and they are good. Use Kevlar disk. Some customers insisted on big advertiser clutches (centerforce) most of them are running McLeod's now. Call Red, he'll set you up.
I have never tried Zoom, so no comment on their stuff |
