Battery Disconnect Switch Location?
Looking for ideas on where to put that silly (but NHRA required) battery disconnect switch???
Anyone got pictures of where theirs is? Gracias |
The original cars often exhibited them mounted high on the rear bulkhead in the center, which required drilling thru the bulkhead.
Accessibility is key for driver or track official. If you don't want to drill thru the rear bulkhead, another option is to fabricate a 90 degree bracket that the switch will bolt into, and then this is mounted to the rear cockpit hoop, again between the drive and passengers seat. Mine is mounted on the rear battery rack, but this is only an option if the car has original style rear passenger location for the battery(s). Bud:JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE |
Rear Bulkhead
I installed mine in the rear bulkhead of my ERA (the battery is mounted in the trunk over the right rear tire). In this position it can be reached fairly easily from inside or outside the car. I can still reach it even when I am buckled-up (that's usually when you remember you "forgot" to turn it "on") with shoulder harness.
