vacuum advance hose?

Just wondering? And this may sound like a silly question to some but way do some performance engines do away with the vacuum advance connection and just plug it off? Is it because the electonic ignition advances the timming for you?

Vacuum advance improves cruise fuel economy.

Since fuel economy is a non-issue on a "Race" motor, some plug the vacuum advance.

For a street motor operating mostly in the 1000 - 3000 RPM range, leave the vacuum advance installed. For a track motor operating in the 3000 RPM - up range, you don't need it, so disconnect it.
