Water pump bolts
During a visual inspection the other day I noticed that some of the bottom bolts on my water pump are oxidizing.
Question: Can I take one bolt out, clean it up, and tighten it back up without disrupting the existing gasket seal? Is there a type of bolt/metal that would prevent this from happening again? Is there a torque spec for a water pump bolt? Thanks |

1. Depending on which bolt it is, you should be able to. 2. A stainless steel bolt would do the trick. 3. I'm sure there is, but I don't know what it is. Before taking it off, put a torque wrench on it and see what it's currently torqued to and just re-install to the same torque. Or you could just take a little steel wool and wd-40 and clean it up. |
