Jaguar suspension
Does anybody have any pics, drawings or a design/drawing for using stock Jaguar suspension front and rear?? I know the rear will have to be narrowed, but I'd like to use the stock upper and lower a-arms up front. Will just transferring the stock measurements work?? The steering rack should work I have already compared it to an old MustangII rack. There are enough threads on the tie-rod ends to narrow the front. I bought a Standard II/ 73-76 Jag XJS for this reason. I have built my own chassis, and am using a B&B body with stock 90" wheelbase. I am ready to fabricate the front and rear clip. I plan on using Aldan coil-overs for the front and the same for the rear or approximate equivalent. also i need some help/suggestions about what height to use for setting the rear end and front end. I am planning to use the car for fri-sat night cruising and the occasional wekend trip. Any comment would be appreciated,

In the Contemporary Cobras we take the Jag front control arms and geometry and move it out to the track width we need. The tie rods are made a little longer and the swaybar gets heated and bent accordingly. Setting it up keep the lower control arms level and the tie rods should be parallel with them to minimise bump steer.
On the rear Jag suspension I recommend any modifications be done professionally per a procedure. The front and rear stresses can break lower control arms even on a factory part. The good folks at ERA have some great info on it here. Shortening the Jaguar pieces I have some parts available to help out the Jag rears also. When you are setting up the Jag rear keep the control arms tipped down at about 3 deg to horizontal at ride height. Daze has some good info on the IRS forum. |

I got a Series 3 RMC and I am in the process of building a hybrid chassis using photographs and it is not a easy exercise but a rewarding challenge. I got a series 3 Jaguar front end and it is very good basis in determining angles. I got information as to the lower control arms and distances from point to point. Now I am seeking the data for the upper wishbones. Another alternative is shorten the Series 3 Jaguar front to suit my hybrid chassis.. |
jag splined hubs
I am looking for 4 jag splined hubs if anyone can help, the splines are the only
part I will be using. thanks terry |
I would keep their geometry if you could and move the arms in to fit. It works and rides very well. Sounds like a neat project.
