Tremec Trans ???? Please Help!
I am working on getting my Cobra project up and running but I need some help.
My car has a tremec transmission with a hydraulic throwout bearing "I believe". I have a ss line coming from the Hydraulic cylinder to the round collar style bearing in the transmission and a ss line coming off of it that sticks back out of the transmission. What does this hook to? There is nothing else on side of the transmission, no fork or anything....Can someone point me in the wright direction or give me a weblink or phone number to call? I have photos that I can provide anyone with that might want to help. |
Good Morning Steve,
Your hydraulic throw out bearing should be positioned on your pilot shaft with one fitting at the top and one at the bottom. Usually these will be banjo fittings. Your TOP fitting will be your bleeder line should extend out the opening in your bell housing. The bottom line will come out of the same opening in your bell housing and connect to a 3/4" or 7/8" master cylinder located on the engine side of your firewall. Care should be taken to make sure the correct clearance is allowed between the clutch and bearing. I use flexable lines from both fittings on the t/o bearing and I secure these lines to my bell housing with some nylon tie wraps to keep them away from the rotating clutch and pressure plate. There are other threads on this site that have some graphic examples that will help you. Do a search on hyd t/o bearings. Clois |
Thanks Clois!
This is my first dealing with a HTOB and just could not figure the top line sticking out with a bleeder screw on it. I will make a mouting bracket to hold the lines in place and a safe way from the clutch. I will do the search now as I was just scrolling through post reading everything I can. |
I found this Information after allot of searching and your post Clois on bleeding procedures. Thanks for the great info...
