Davinci carb?
Is anybody using a Davinci carb? Are they good for the street, or only the track? Is there an issue with the choke mechanism? My application is a 396 stroker.
Thanks Bumpster |
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know DaVincis don't install chokes. Pretty much a race carb. Call them and find out. I do know that if you run a Barry Grant with the oval air cleaner, you have to grind a small hole in the base for the choke mechanism to poke through. Simple and just takes a minute.

I've seen Keith Craft mention them on pretty much every build they have listed lately. Try giving them a call for details -- Keith seems pretty sold on them...

DaVinci what?
Yeah... My friend has one on his SPF and the Shelby motor was built, installed, and supposedly setup and dyno'd by a known engine builder. Turned out to be mostly hype if you ask me. I was curious about this so called custom tuned carb and had multiple cars/carbs to compare and swap with as needed...
The carb did not work very well for street or track type use until various changes were made and required - unfortunately. By the time we were done with it... rejetting / squirters / powervalves and settings, we realized the previous owner of the car could have just bought an HP/Holley for less $ with better results by making the same changes as per my standard Holley/HP. After the final tweaks, he's able to roast 'em pretty good now when rolling on hard in 3rd gear even with sticky 17" Michelin Pilots. Big difference. Good Luck. |
