Changing Alternator Pulley
Anyone change a Powermaster Alternator pulley? There is 1" nut over a bolt that has an allen head. How do I get this off? Left or right thread? Seems to be on tight and it is difficult to stabilize the faf/pulley assembly from spinning

Use an impact wrench - I think that is even recommended in the instructions that come with the alternator.
Or you could hold it from turning with the allen and use a wrench on the nut, but if it has been sitting for a long time it may need the impact trick. Spray penetrating oil on it first.

Good idea....I'll have to borrow my neighbors impact wrench%/ I have a compressor but no impact tools yet. Sounds like the way to go. Thanks Pat

If the belt is on sometimes that will help in preventing the pulley from turning....squeeze the belt together with your fingers right by the pulley so it doesn't slip, then try it.

i just changed the same pulley on my single wire powermaster. an allen wrench and a 15/16 wrench is all it took to break the nut loose. its standard thread...lefty loosey. an impact wrench makes it easier but i had no problem getting it off with the two wrenches. while you're in there, take note of the spacer behind the fan. the spacer on mine was to thick, which moved the fan assembly out from the housing. i changed the spacer (washer) to one that was thinner to achieve better cooling.
