Just need a little math help....
..I'm trying to extrapolate from a magazine article exactly what a LITER is, in terms of CUBIC INCHES. I think that I came up with the figure that one cubic inch=16.37 cubic centimeters. I then divided 5733 cc by 5.7 liters (Porsche Carerra GT) and got a liter=1005 cc. Since 1 cubic inche=16.39 cc, one liter=61.3 cubic inches. Zat right? **)
NOTE each respondent is allowed a few (FEW) lines for derision---but thereafter must correct my figures!  Thanks, Yours in hopeless mathematical bufoonery, |
I think you're close enough. If I recall correctly, a liter by definition is 1000 cc.
|
1 liter = 61.0237441 cubic inch
5,733 cc x 1 Liter/1000 cc x 61.024 cubic inch/1 liter = 349.85 cubic inches or 350 ci x 1 liter/61.024 ci = 5.735 liters 5.735 liters x 1000 cc/1 liter = 5735 cc |
Phred,
A liter is about six and one half ft. long and about three feet in width... and usually used to carry wounded/injured people to an aid station or to transportation to a care facility. The previous posters seem to think it has something to do with measurement and math... anytime |
Aaaahhhhhh Duuuhhhh!
Freud,
Online search would help you out. Can you spell G O O G L E? If so, go to Google.com and search for 'metric conversions'. Oh, never mind I did it for you and here are some of the better sites. Good Luck now. :p http://www.onlineconversion.com/ http://www.allmath.com/metric.asp http://www.worldwidemetric.com/metcal.htm http://www.sciencemadesimple.com/conversions.html Unless I was on a sinking ship and had to figure out time until sunk I would not need any of this stuff. I don't sail so this works for me! :) |
Bwana, Okike, Casa..........

Wheat-thin, sorry I don't measure up to your displacement---oops----I meant IQ.  As I indicated indirectly in my original query, I don't suffer from great ego, especially in the domain of mathematics. Some things are above me and some things are below me. You may ______ me (pick one from the previous sentence)!    Casa, priceless, as usual.   |
Wheat-thin, Okie! Erratum ommisions, etc.
