Fuel system from hell
I thought I would throw this one out there and see what comes up. A good friend of mine is in the final stages of a buildup of a very respectable 41 Willys. (not a Cobra, but it is a kit so I forgave him) Rather than go the usual BB, giant blower and so on, he figured he would be different, and purchased a set of 4 dual throat Dellorto's, used of course. It is a very impressive looking setup I must say and it brought back memories of a 66 GT350 I had with a borrowed set of 48IDA Webers. That was back in the 70's when I was sure I knew everything. Until that thing hit 4 grand....nothing, but after that you better be hanging on to something. Anyway I have been unsuccessful in findind any info on these carbs, let alone adjustment tips or tricks. I've done my share of setting up multiple carburetion in all types of applications, but would like to approach this with a little more insight. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Years ago I built a 2300cc VW "Baja bug" with 2 dual throat Delorto carbs(Manifold and carbs were virtually free, good price), set up for off-road, dune use--we couldn't ever get them set up right and ended up contacting a Porche/VW performance aftermarket shop. They had all the info on setting up these carbs. None of the speed shops or custom builders in my area had a clue. FWIW

When he gets tired of dialing carbs, let him know that there are plenty of Fuel Injection Companies building reliable stuff including Injection bodies that look like Webers. We've been doing Momar EFI for a year now to great success. No better feeling than to be able to stand outside your car on a cold day, lean inside, turn the key and it starts without playing the gas pedal game.
