Power Brakes

Hi Guys,

I have an A&C Cobra with four wheel 11" disc brakes and I am considering converting the manual brakes to power.

There is limited space between the pedal box and the inner wheel well fender. What power brake setup have you guys found works well. The kit manufacturer recommends a setup from an '84 Corvette but that setup would extend into the wheel well necessitating cutting an opening in the wheel well. I have been told that a setup from an '87 to '89 Mercury Tracer might work without any cutting.

Any info would be appreciated.

Tony,I have the same problem on my Hunter, plus the fact that a small diameter booster must be used so it will not contact the headers. The 8 inch dual diaphragm with remote fill master for 4 wheel disks is about 12 inches long(Master power brakes)You will need a booster at least this size for 4 wheel disk. Many of the junk yard setups are for 2 wheel disk ,so be careful what you buy. chuck

Powermaster unit from the '84-'86 Buick Grand Nationals work well on the FFR for these same reasons. They do a super job with four-wheel discs.
