9" Ford r/e question.....
Hello,
In my overzealousness with the axel remover on my streetrod, I did not notice the axel was hanging up on the backing plate whilst i was banging away with the axle puller. I have now seemed to 'hurt' the metal gasket that is between the backing plate and axel housing. Any idea on where to get one of these gems, provided I cannot fix the current one? Can I get away with a paper gasket? Have tried Ford (no longer make and do not have), Randy's Ring and Pinion as well as the local parts houses - Napa, Carquest..... David   |
David,
I would suggest giving Currie Ent. a call. I have 2 of their rear axle assemblies.1 under my Cobra and another under a '68 Nova. http://www.currieenterprises.com/ |
Thanks Fred,
Sent them an email right away..... Any other ideas in case they canot come up with it......... David |
Solved - Currie Ent
This is the email response I received (within 10 minutes)....
This gasket is really something you can just take out and trash - it really doesn't do anything. Ford put them in there theoretically to be a harmonics deadener, but they didn't work for that purpose anyway, and they have nothing to do with the fluid sealing. Thanks. David :3DSMILE: |
Isn't Club Cobra great.:3DSMILE:
Problem solved in 30 minutes.:D No telling what all you would have gone through without the internet AND Club Cobra. |
Amen........
