this rookie has lots of questions

i recently purchased a 91 gt for the donor to ffr ROADSTER
i want go from efi to carb and want to know if there are any good books out there with good detail on this procedure.
also i would like to go to 5 lug, and disc in the rear is there a kit out there to replace the drums and axles or do i need to get it all seperate (axles, bearings, posi unit, etc...) or will a 94-95 gt rear setup work in the ffr roadster. im open to any advice or direction.
thanks for your help.
Big ROB (THE ROOKIE FOR NOW)
P.S. (another rookie question) if your looking at the block from the front of a stock 302(in the 91 GT i just bought), at the eight-o-clock position, below the alternator and to the left of the crank and water pump, WHAT IS THE THING AND WHAT DOES IT DO AND CAN I GET RID OF IT WHEN I GO TO CARB. my best guess is it has somthing to do with emissions, the hayes book i bought only has it labled as " A/P" and i cant find any other info on it in the rest of the book. thanks again

Hey Rob....the conversion you're wanting to do is pretty easy. The general jist of it is that you get rid of all fuel injection related parts....lower intake manifold, intake plenum, all sensors, vac lines, etc. You just need to buy a carb intake manifold, a carb, and an air cleaner...You will only have a couple vacuum lines at the most....the biggest one going from the PCV valve to the carb...

The thing on the front of the motor that you're talking about is the air pump...you don't need it.

That's the "forest" version. It's not a big deal to do what you wanna do. When you start getting curious as to what parts to buy, we can fill you in on the "trees" part.

But to answer your first question, you don't need a book to do what you're wanting to do. It's a pretty simple swap.

Are you wanting to go through the engine before you put it in your Cobra? While you have the valve covers and intake off, it wouldn't be too bad to think about a different cam...upgrade parts..etc....

I would guess A/P would be air pump. If the emission standards for your state let you run with out cats then take the pump off. Try using the search near the top right of the page. Five lug conversion has been talked about alot. EFI to carb same thing. Try the search. A wealth of information is all there. Jim
