Cobra ashtray dimensions?

Would somebody that has a original style ashtray in the tunnel of their Cobra please give me the dimensions? I am looking to hide a couple of switches.

YOu might tool around on the ERA site. I think they offer an ashtray. I can look in my catalog when I get home tonight to see if there is any mention

My understanding is E.R.A. won't sell parts etc. to anyone that doesn't own one of their cars---states something like that on their website--Right or wrong?

The original ash tray mounted in the tunnel was ALSO the same ash tray used in the Austin Healey 3000's.

Should be able to buy one quite easily from one of the English spare parts suppliers. I was tempted to keep the ash tray when I sold the Austin, what with it being an "original" Cobra piece and all. :D

I am mostly interesed in what size the bottom of the tray is, I plan to put the switches of the seat heaters in there. I think each heater switch takes a 13/16 hole.

Thanks,

I just measured the ashtray in my car and the outside dimensions are 2&3/4 by 2&3/8 inches. The inside dimension of the hole would be between around 2&3/8 by 2 to 2&1/2 by 2&1/8. The 2&3/4 dimension is from side to side the 2&3/8 is front to back. The distance to the ash tray outside back edge from the outside of the chrome shift boot ring is 3&9/16 inches.

Hope this helps.

I've heard of ERA helping others out from time to time but I think you are right in the sense that they do not wish to become a parts depot.

Didn't the original ashtray have a hole in the bottom of it? Never have to empty it that way!

I will say ERA's Bob Putnam sure contributed a lot of valuable information. His past posts have sure helped me out from making some major mistakes on my car, so far as I get the thing put back together correctly.
