It is a 1973, aqua colored. There is a local guy we found that supposedly does good work on these. Maybe with a serious tuneup it will sound better.

Brent;
Guitar techs that are capable of making the strat "right" can
cost quite a bit. IMHO, I would have it appraised and then trade
it in for a slab-side American standard tele.

Don't forget a Bigsby!!!:cool:

So your saying put it on ebay or a reptable dealer as is and get a different one then. Shouldn't bother getting it fixed first? Supposedly the guy is really good, but he may even do it for free for the youth band. Though I don't know what the cost of parts would be. If they are even needed. Oh well, it isn't mine, all I do is pass the info along. Thanks again.

flipper35 02-10-2004 05:06 PM

Maybe I should trade them for mine and I could get a nice black American Standard. Ha ha.

Tongue Pirate 02-10-2004 05:09 PM

you keep listening to us & you might end up with a custom hand made Benedetto archtop. You better go for the "free":LOL:

flipper35 02-10-2004 05:15 PM

Actually for how much I play I am perfectly happy with my Strat and Washburn. Just want those poor kids to have something that they can play and have sound decent. This one would make Eric Clapton or Jeff Beck sound crappy.

I wouldn't know what to do with the Benedetto any more than I would know what to do with a CSX3xxx car. Would be afraid to use it to it's full potential.

Tongue Pirate 02-10-2004 05:25 PM

I don't think the Benedetto would leave you upside down facing the wrong way in the wrong lane of traffic....But who knows**)

A strat is pretty basic & even a little beat up should make a great guitar with decent electronics, Good luck!

flipper35 02-10-2004 05:31 PM

I don't have a fear of that, I have a fear of doing something little and banging it up. Bang up a glass replica or an older strat isn't as big of a deal.

Your right, the guitar shouldn't leave me upside down, but it could leave me with my pants loaded.
