Radiator Hose, stainless
Has anyone installed stainless steel radiator hose and clamps? Please forward your experience.
Previously I posted a thread on Pi-thon and got no responses. It looks like a very good product and I'm really surprised no one has ever used this. Also any advice on AN fittings (vendor info as well) to dress up engine bay would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Jong |
I just installed the chrome flex hose. It should disipate more heat and the kit has plenty of tubing to do both upper and lower. The Chrome fittings put the clamp too far back so you have to really make sure they are pushed up as far as possible and really tighten them down. Mine blew off a couple of times and you can see in the pic that I had to turn the radiator fitting around to make it work.

I use -16 AN stainless braided. I had the radiator modified with an AN fitting and use the CSI thermostat housing with AN fitting.

Top and Bottom
I put SS Chrome on the top and bottom hose using the rubber connectors. Purchased the SS clamps seperate and threw out the ones that came with the kit. They were junk.
The top hose fit with the chrome sleeve over the rubber coupler and clamps. However, I could not fit the Chrome sleeves on any of the other rubber connectors as they were to big. I have a large Griffin Radiator and the inlet/outlets are big. I suggest if you are going to use the SS flex hose, shop around. I got the entire kit for something like $85.00. I drilled a 1/16" hole in the top of the thermostat and looped the heater hose circuit. Added: 1 can water pump lube, 2 gallons antifreeze, 1 stick of seal lube and 1 can red line wetter. Filled the rest with water. I pressure tested the system to 18 PSI. Looks good and works great. I use WD40 to wipe things down. Hope this is what you are looking for. :3DSMILE: |
