Where did you mount your coil?
I've been trying to find the "correct" coil location. I tried the 2 bolt holes on the front of the driver's side head, but the bracket I have will not tighten enough to hold the coil because they are spaced wide enough that the slots in the bracket "bottom out" against the bolts.
Any suggestions on better bracket or location? |
I wrapped the coil in about a quarter inch of rubber and then put it in the bracket....you can now tighten the bracket and it has some vibration protection too. Just trim the rubber so it looks good.

Contact Pat for the correct pattern of plaid rubber to be used for the insulator, it is intended to match the plaid hi-lift shock grommets used exclusively by the Gasholes

Good Idea...I'm hoping to be a little different and use an argile or paisley pattern.

I can't advise you on the color for your coil cozy - I was born without the decorating gene. But I can suggest you avoid locations that are too hot. And unless you have one of the special racing coils, it needs to be mounted upright. Take it from someone who knows - a coil will puke its guts out and make a terrible mess if it overheats.

I mounted mine on front of the driver's side cylinder head. I got the bracket from Southern Automotive and if fits perfectly. It might be worth calling them- the bracket is not expensive. Pat's idea of using rubber is a good one. Pat, how thick a piece of rubber did you use? I would think an old piece of inner tube would be a good size, but I'm not sure how much vibration protection that would provide. |

It was about the thickness of an inner tube and the anti-vibration qualities were minimal but worthwhile, I think. Pat |
I ended having to do what Pat did and wrap my coil to get it to grip. Pat, I like those HP figures in your profile. :LOL:

I mounted mine on the left front of the intake manifold using a one bolt type bracket. It works like a charm although I did need to grind off part of one corner of the coil bracket to make it fit right. I'm out of town right now but I can send you some photos on Sunday if you'd like. Chris |

Made my own bracket.
Accel super coil on the driver's side front of engine. Since the fan was Electric and there was more room there, than on top, why not? Works well. |
