In our 427 Windsors we set initial timing at @14 to 16 deg. and total @ around 33 to 34 deg. Hope this helps

Don't know what the initial timing is set, but Keith has got mine set at 38 degrees total. 427 stroker, aluminum block, aluminum AFR 225 heads, 10.5 compression ratio, pump gas motor

it depends on the motor, 30-34 is the expected range, with many guys running about 34. We used to do some really hot small blocks that only liked 30 total.
