Windshield Wiper Question

My windshield wipers work, but they dont go 180 degrees like most windshield wipers. They go 90 degrees, leaving half of my windshield unwiped. There's a connector between the two wipers under the dash that rides on a cam from the motor. Is there a way to fix this behavior?

With Lucas wipers there is a crownwheel under the cover that has a pin which connects to the cable, there may be different holes in the crownwheel to move the pin further out on the crownwheel from its drive axis.

I have Triumph 2000 which shouldn't need any modification. If you modify be carefull of getting excessive throw off the screen!

Question, which side of the glass are the wipers parked on? Right or left? I know it sounds strange but they work better if they park to the right, at least for us, you may have the wheel box upside down on your car. The cars we have done do not go much past 90 maybe 130 but from right to left on the windshield they seem get enough so you can see to drive.
Just an thought.

FWIW my wipers only traverse just a few(10-15 deg) past 90 degrees--my Spf was the same -- don't think the Lucas wipers do like a "full" 180 +/- sweep like on most new cars or cars we're used to driving.
One other thing is the position of the arm/blade in correlation with the motor sweep angle--if they are off by several degress from "park" it will make a difference on the sweep angle and the amount of windshield being swept---Trial and Error and I finally got mine to sweep in a position that worked and still park the blade low on the windshield.
RE: park left or right--it may be the wheelboxes are upside down--but I would bet that the wiper motor polarity might be reversed if they park left---spent a day with the dash out trying the wheelbox scenario only to find they were on right, then for out of frustration and for grins I swapped power leads, magically they parked right---Duh--do the simple first--electric motors usually will run in either direction depending upon power and ground connection

Modify the position of the pin in the wiper motor, its dead simple!
Get an old wiper motor and experiment with moving the pin out to whatever the sweep you require, by drilling etc.
Also there are different gearboxes (cogs and shaft the blade attaches to) some have smaller cogs, if you have dare I say it Austin Allegro Vanden Plas (heap of sh*t) they have the smallest cog gearboxes.

These wipers worked alright on many cars over the years, but people get them and dont take enough care when mounting the motor and gearboxes and end up with the solid outer tube with "S" bends, they work much better with these tubes on a single plane!
I have always found the wipers travel to far, maybe when I actually test this setup with 110degrees etc I will be doing some modifying!
