T-5 identification
Help! I could talk to my local Ford guy, but I just moved here and he doesn't seem to be very helpful (he seemed more helpful when he thought I was going to buy a transmission). I am trying to find the year of my T-5 transmission. I had a pretty stout motor built and I think I want to upgrade the transmission and sell this T-5. but to sell it, I would feel better telling people what year it came from. It was supplied rebuilt from a third party. There is NO tag on it. there are several casting numbers that are heavily paint covered, not to mention hard to get at. The bell housing has E3ZR-6394 etched into it. The tranmission has small raised numbers that are 13-52-065-908 (confidence that these are correct about 95%) and the top area of the transmission where the shifter goes in seems to say 13-52-065-819 (these are really hard to get to and my confidence on these is a little lower). I am not going to give this tranny away and may wind up running it this summer if I get no interest on the rebuilt T-5 so I do not want to pull it out to get a better look. Can anyone out there help me to identify this? I know I can make enough calls and spend enough internet time, I may find this out, but maybe one of you has done this work already and can save me some time. Thanks

You can try www.tremectransmissions.com. The guy I talked to there was helpful.

Wayne,
If there is no ID tag on the unit, you have to open it up and get the cluster gear ID numbers. The casting numbers are worthless. The cluster gear numbers would tell you the gear ratios, torque rating, and a few other things. This info along with imput shaft length and other physical measurements could narrow it down to the probable year of production. I just went through the same excercise with my T5. Good luck. |
Thanks Tfarhood,
I was hoping for an easy answer, but needed a clear accurate one. Thanks for supplying that for me. I probably won't go to the trouble but will just call it a regular T-5 when I try to sell it. thanks again WZ |
