body emblems - how best to attach?

I have 2 round Cobra emblems for the nose and trucnk and 2 427 side emblems. All 4 have 2 unthreaded posts on them. What's your opinion, should I drill small holes and attach them with barrell nuts, grind off the posts and attach with double-sided tape, or use the posts and tape together?

Cut the posts off. Smooth the backs of the emblems. Use clear RTV to bond the emblems to the body.

I put them on like OEM. I drilled the holes and held them in place with those little spring clips you get at the auto parts store.

I wanted to able to take them off when I do spring clean up and the clips had a tendency to break and gouge the pin so I threaded the pin and use a small nut and washer on the back. When threading go slow and use a light oil, dont forget this is a white metal, not very strong.

Be selective on what kind of double sided tape you get. Some of the stuff is too thick and does not look as good as some of the thinner tape on the market. I think I used 3M double sided on my round emblem.

I think silicon is best. You can use a piece of fishing line to cut them off without damaging the paint. That 3M-type trim tape bonds and can take the paint off.

if you silicone them, be sure to tape them into place with masking tape to hold them in place while the silicone sets up overnight.

Thanks for all the tips! Great website for a new Cobra owner like myself.

Since I quit smoking about 11 months ago, I found I had an endless supply of well used (chewed?) Nicorette gum. Doesn't work so well on Cobra emblems however my brother-in-law found it works pretty good on Listers! :D

Thanks for all the good advice. I decided to clip the 2 pins and attach the emblems with Fusor #171 clear double-sided tape that an auto paint dealer highly recommended. I think they are there forever!
